Proper Storage and Transportation of Cable Ties

  • 24.10.2023

Cable ties are an indispensable tool in many fields where securely fastening wires and cables is essential. It's crucial to follow specific guidelines to preserve their quality and functionality during transportation and storage.

Storage of Cable Ties

  • Optimal conditions: Choose a dry and cool storage location for cable ties to protect them from moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Packaging: For small cable ties, plastic containers or boxes can be used, while larger ones can be stored in special bags or boxes.
  • Pallets: If you have a significant number of cable ties, consider storing them on pallets for ease of transportation and storage.

Transportation of Cable Ties

  • Protection from damage: To prevent damage and deformation during transportation, use soft packing materials or padding.
  • Categorization: Sort cable ties by size, type, and purpose to facilitate access and prevent tangling.
  • Labeling: Add labeling or tags to the packaging of cable ties to easily identify their contents.

Handling Guidelines

  • Avoid stepping on packaged cable ties: Do not stand or step on packaged ties to prevent deformation.
  • Temperature conditions: To maintain the ties' quality, ensure they are not stored near steam heating systems, radiators, or other heating devices. The recommended storage temperature for cable ties is around +23ºC (73.4ºF) with a humidity level of 50%.
  • UV protection: To prevent the harmful effects of ultraviolet light on nylon cable ties, keep them away from direct sunlight, and never store them on windowsills.

Sealing Polyethylene Packaging

It is important to maintain the integrity of the polyethylene packaging with cable ties and only open it immediately before installation. Use the opened package as soon as possible. To preserve the quality of the ties in an unpacked package, you can add a few drops of water and seal the packaging with tape. This will preserve the properties of the nylon cable ties until the next use.

Working Temperature Range

The working temperature range of nylon cable ties is from -10 to +85ºC. This means that installed ties will withstand the specified loads under these temperature conditions. If you plan to install cable ties at low temperatures, it is recommended to leave them at room temperature for several hours before installation. During the installation of nylon cable ties, it is important to adhere to the lower temperature limit for installation, which is 0ºC.

Fastening Guidelines

When tightening cable ties during installation, it is recommended to do so smoothly, avoiding jerks and bends in the opposite direction of tie tightening. Following these simple recommendations will help ensure a successful installation and a long service life of cable ties.
